# Deepgram STT for Call Recording Transcription | Telnyx Release Notes

# Telnyx adds Deepgram as a STT provider for recording transcription

### 2, Feb 2026

We are excited to announce that Deepgram is now available as a Speech-to-Text (STT) provider for file-based recording transcription on the Telnyx platform. On top of real-time transcription and AI Assistant, Deepgram industry-leading STT is now an option for transcribing your stored call recordings, giving you even more flexibility in how you process and analyze your voice data.

## Where and how you can use it

Deepgram STT is now available through our file-based transcription endpoint and call recording endpoint designed specifically for transcribing stored recordings. There are two ways to use it:

1. **Automatic transcription for call recordings**Enable transcription when you start recording a call. When the call ends, you receive both the recording and the transcription, no need to re-upload the file.
2. **Transcribe existing audio files**Have recordings from another source? Upload your audio file or provide a URL to get a transcription powered by Deepgram.

Both options are ideal for:

* Post-call analytics and quality assurance
* Compliance and record-keeping workflows
* Sales call analysis and coaching
* Customer sentiment analysis
* Meeting and interview transcription
* Voicemail-to-text workflows

## Getting started

1. Sign up or log in to your [Telnyx Mission Control Portal account](http://portal.telnyx.com/)
2. [Obtain Your API Key](https://developers.telnyx.com/development/api-fundamentals/create-api-keys)
3. Make a POST request to the Speech-to-Text endpoint with provider set to deepgram and your call recording file (supported formats: WAV, MP3, FLAC, OGG, and more) or set the transcription engine to deepgram on your start recording request
4. Receive your transcription response with full text and metadata
