Network-Native Noise Suppression Now Available for SIP Trunking

25, Mar 2026

Overview

Background noise exhausts agents, inflates handling times, and derails AI transcriptions. Noise suppression is now a network-native control for Telnyx SIP Trunking. By running inline directly on the Telnyx media plane, this feature cleans up your audio streams before they ever reach your endpoints.

Because suppression runs inline on the Telnyx media plane, there is no third-party hop, no added latency, and no finger-pointing when something sounds off. One network, one owner.

Why it matters

  • Eliminates hardware upgrades — suppression happens on our network, so you get immediate audio improvements without deploying new headsets, updating PBX hardware, or changing remote worker setups.
  • Improves AI and transcription accuracy — bad audio means bad data. Stripping out environmental noise before audio hits your STT pipelines reduces AI hallucinations and improves sentiment analysis.
  • Scales without per-call configuration — enable suppression once at the connection or DID level, and every call on that connection benefits automatically.
  • Surfaces actionable metadata — full suppression metadata and start/stop webhooks in the API let you correlate engine choice with MOS scores and transcription success rates.
  • Supports runtime overrides — connection-level settings cover your baseline, but you can use the Voice API to inject overrides for specific calls.

Five engines for different environments

Not all noise is created equal. Choose the engine that fits your use case:

Engine Best for Benefit
Crisp Call centers and offices Eliminates background chatter, typing, and office echoes
DeepFilterNet Industrial and field ops Filters machinery, sirens, and wind aggressively
Denoiser General purpose Balanced, reliable reduction for everyday calls
Rook AI and STT pipelines Tunes voice frequencies specifically for machine transcription
Quail High-volume, low-latency Ultra-fast suppression with minimal processing delay
