Chennai, India Anchorsite for SIP Connections

Telnyx has added a Chennai, India anchorsite for SIP connections, expanding local voice anchoring in India. Chennai joins Mumbai as the second Telnyx anchorsite in India and adds to a growing APAC footprint that includes Singapore and Sydney.

What's new

Why it matters

As India continues to be one of the fastest-growing communications markets globally, having two local anchor points changes what's possible for voice infrastructure. Enterprises, contact centers, and developers can now anchor calls locally in either Mumbai or Chennai, reducing reliance on a single entry point and keeping traffic on the Telnyx private backbone from the moment it enters the network. Two anchor sites mean more routing flexibility, shorter paths for calls originating in southern India, and built-in resilience if one site is unavailable.

Getting started

  1. Log in to the Telnyx Mission Control Portal
  2. Navigate to Voice → SIP Trunking → SIP Connections
  3. Create a new connection or edit an existing one
  4. Select Chennai, India as your anchorsite (or use Mumbai for a dual-anchor setup)
  5. Save and test your connection
